The game can be played with anywhere from 2 to 7 comfortably, as the space is large. The game is also kid friendly for children 12 and up.
Venue / Lobby Info:
The venue has very specific directions on the website on how to get there, which were very useful. The lobby is just an entryway into the game, as there is only 1 game in the venue, and only one group at a time. There is a place to put your belongings that was creatively integrated in the set, and the lobby had everything needed for a successful introduction.
Public Restrooms: Yes
Game Introduction: The game introduction really threw us into the theme and setting, with light and sound effects to go along with it. We were immediately excited to begin, and were so excited to recover the lost treasure.
Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story
Narrative: Be an Adventurer
Main room first glance: Nice & Neat!
The main room was decorated like a pirates cove, as you would expect. All props fit perfectly into the setting, and we were so excited to interact with certain set pieces. There were some 'additional' puzzles that were clearly marked, so we did not have to interact with them unless told to do so (which was a great mechanic!) The lighting and sound effects in the room were amazing, and the thought and detail put into them was astounding.
Flow: Excellent flow - flawless and coherent
The puzzles were clearly marked, and easy to find (not to say they were easy to solve!) We always had a clear pathway of where to go next, and continuously knew what our next task was.
Puzzles: Well thought of. Intriguing
The puzzles were incredibly fun and fit the theme well. They were all very relevant to our mission, and each one was fun to interact with and solve. Some puzzles were more paper-based, but we did not mind one bit in context. There were many incredibly fun interactive puzzles, with objects and encounters we had yet to see.
The puzzles, the theme, the music and lighting effects, the fun factor.
The puzzles were tons of fun, but not too challenging. We would have liked to see a progression in difficulty with one or two added puzzles.
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Quality: Excellent (They have advanced the game, built-in escalation, no answer-disclosing)
Closure & Debrief: Excellent (Catharsis)
This room is a must see in Budapest by far. Yes, it's not in the center of the city-- but is SO worth going out of your way for. This was our last game on a 28 game tour, and we couldn't be happier to end here. We had more fun in this room than almost any other room, and I can honestly admit I was smiling the entire time. Definitely book your trip to The Pirate Cave next time you're in the area!!!
Did You Escape: Yes
