Overview Notes:
The most difficult room at Puzzle Parlour, I would recommend this game to experienced players and larger groups of 4-5 players. There's a lot of puzzling to be had at any point in time during this experience!
The Venue
Venue / Lobby Info:
The lobby of Puzzle Parlour is absolutely beautiful - it is truly a parlour. They have several couches set up, with games to play while waiting. It is one of the most comfortable lobbies I have ever seen.
Public Restrooms: Yes
Refreshments: No
Notes for People with Disabilities:
There is a small step into the venue, but within the game space it is relatively accessible. During our experience we had a stroller, which moved about the space without difficulty.
The Game
Game Introduction: We have some information to find to prove that aliens exist!
Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story
Theme: Future / Technological
Narrative: science_/ laboratory
Main room first glance: Nice & Neat!
We begin our game in a professor/scientists's home. It was a well lit, comfortable space - I felt like someone could truly live in this space! It was very well thought out, without seeing a ton of locks everywhere.
Flow: Very Good and coherent flow
There is a LOT to do in this game - be prepared to be busy and work in pairs throughout the experience. Pro Tip: If you're herding in this room, split up and look for other puzzles to do!
Puzzles: Some of them were great (matched promised level)
There was a beautiful blend of classic escape room puzzles, intertwined with some newer high tech gadgets. It led to a pleasant Escape Room experience, with multiple AHA! Moments! I would recommend playing this room with those who can read/write/communicate in the English language well.
Game Strengths:
Great space to explore - LOTS to do! - Fun, unique theme
Game Weaknesses:
We were able to skip around in the game flow by recognizing puzzle components earlier than we were supposed to, a few quick adjustments will make that impossible to do and create a game that flows perfectly.
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Method: TV-Monitor
Quality: Excellent (They have advanced the game, built-in escalation, no answer-disclosing)
Closure & Debrief: Excellent (Catharsis)
Final Thoughts:
Puzzle Parlour is a unique venue in several ways. From their expansive lobby to unusual game themes, they are a breath of fresh air located a short drive outside of NYC. Their rooms are family friendly and offer varying difficulty levels based on the group booking. They are a must visit location to those looking for a puzzle heavy, beautiful, immersive experience.
