The Game
Game Introduction: Without giving too much away... We're on the set of a TV show and have an hour to win!
Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story
Theme: Abstract / No Theme
Narrative: Defuse the explosive device
Main room first glance: Wow!
In my 350ish rooms of experience, I have never been in an Escape Room that was so colorful, bright, and welcoming. The immersive level was amazing, and no other game we played in Chicago had this same energy.
Flow: Very Good and coherent flow
Escape Factor delivers one of the best single room experiences I have ever been witness to. The game makes sense, with each puzzle flowing into the next. It was beautifully orchestrated, showing a designer with true imagination.
Puzzles: Well thought of. Intriguing
Puzzle difficulty ranged from easy to moderate to physical, leaving enough for kids to do or experienced enthusiasts. There's a mix of high and low tech that was well appreciated.
Game Strengths:
Beautiful set design - welcoming game theme - family friendly - unique elements
Game Weaknesses:
I wish the in-room GM had a bigger role within the hour of game time. This was a missed opportunity for additional interaction with players.
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Method: In-Person
Quality: Excellent (They have advanced the game, built-in escalation, no answer-disclosing)
Closure & Debrief: Excellent (Catharsis)
Final Thoughts:
If you only have time for one company when visiting Chicago, add Escape Factor to the top of your list. We had a great time at their three rooms, with Bonus Fun Time Game Show Challenge being the most unique experience of the weekend.
