The parking was very easy to find and reasonably priced for the area.
The game was 65 minutes long, and definitely cannot be done solo. The owners were wonderful to work with.
Venue / Lobby Info:
The lobby is small but fits the entire team perfect. You probably won't see any other teams, as their games are staggered perfectly. The venue and lobby were well on theme. There is a cool video game store next door, and a lot of eateries around the area.
Public Restrooms: Yes
Notes for People with Disabilities:
Wheelchair accessible, could be done with hearing impairments.
Game Introduction: "Nothing is as it seems when the Mad Hatter traps you in his room full of riddles." The room was loosely based on Alice in Wonderland, but no prior knowledge is needed. The narrative was great in fitting the theme, as it was quirky and well done. The introduction was briefly given by a game master, then followed with a short video from the mad hatter himself.
Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story
Theme: Fantasy / Fiction
Main room first glance: Nice & Neat!
This escape room was a 1 room endeavor, but do not let that fool you! The room transformed, and the puzzles were well integrated into the set. The room was a ton of fun with many different things to focus on. Each puzzle could be done independently, and all puzzles could be worked on around the same time. Everyone was incredibly busy throughout the room, keeping their hands and minds busy. The room was painted like a Wonderland Themed room.
Flow: Excellent flow - flawless and coherent
The puzzles could all be solved at the beginning, but you would unlock certain things that could help with the puzzles. The final puzzle was done throughout the entire room. The players could really do whatever puzzle order they wanted, which was a good decision.
Puzzles: Well thought of. Intriguing
The puzzles were so much fun, and flawlessly integrated. Most of the room was technical, with very few locks. The tech behind some puzzles allowed for magical moments to happen, and at one point we were blown away by a specific tech element.
The game was incredibly fun to play, the puzzles were strong, everything was well clued and cohesive. Pandora's Locks had full control over the set tech wise, and it paid off throughout the experience. Some game elements were completely new to us (100+ room in), which was a nice breath of fresh air.
The decor could use some touching up, but otherwise the set was great!
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Quality: Excellent (They have advanced the game, built-in escalation, no answer-disclosing)
Closure & Debrief: Excellent (Catharsis)
Game Master Name:
Pandora's Locks is a must see when in the Vancouver or surrounding area-- their rooms are fun, innovative, and great to see. This is one of the first companies I have played that actually pulled off the 1 room puzzle adventure! If you have time, be sure to check out Wonderland and Vault! If you only have time for 1 room, pick the theme that you are more interested in.
Did You Escape: Yes
