The perfect size for most 5 Wits missions is 4 players, or a small family. While playable with 2, there is a lot to do!
Venue / Lobby Info:
The lobby had props, t-shirts, and random items for sale. There is no available seating. Upon entry to the venue, you notice the three doors 'leading to each adventure' as well as a token box next to the door. Upon entry, you purchase the tokens for the adventures you wish to play, and stand by the door for the next adventure to begin.
Public Restrooms: Yes
Notes for People with Disabilities:
There is no seating available in the lobby, but staff will grab you a chair from the back if you need to sit. All rooms are built to be ADA compliant.
Game Introduction: Via television monitor prior to entry - Who really runs the CABAL?! We are infiltrating a building to stop them!
Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story
Narrative: Be an Adventurer
Main room first glance: Wow!
Our game begins by crawling through (there is an ADA alternative entrance) the ACTUAL air ducts. What?! *Make sure to wear comfortable, knee covering clothing*
Flow: Excellent flow - flawless and coherent
5 Wits breaks up their games into several rooms with 'mini missions' that take roughly 10 minutes each. If you do not succeed in an area, there is a 'fail' scenario that will allow you to reach the next room. This is beautifully orchestrated, and with proper soundproofing it is very difficult to hear the next team.
Puzzles: Some of them were great (matched promised level)
For those of you who are 5 Wits fans.. Some of the puzzles will feel familiar to other adventures. Ranging in difficulty from elementary to difficult, there are puzzles that are more child friendly than others within the game. Pro tip: Espionage was the most difficult experience we've been presented with from the 5 Wits brand of games.
Replayable (multiple possible endings) - exciting, immersive set - fast paced gameplay
At some points within the game, we knew what we were supposed to do, but had a lot of trouble doing it. The instructions weren't always the most clear. At times, it was 100% our own fault. I need to replay this game one more time and see what was our fault vs. in-game issues.
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Closure & Debrief: OK
Our team (barely) succeeded in stopping the Cabal! If you're at Plymouth Meeting mall, make sure to stop in and check out 5 Wits. Some quick notes: * There is an hour long, guided, different version of this game near Boston, MA. There are some similarities - give yourself ample time between playing the two experiences. * There is no in-game hint system * Make sure to tell your GM if you cannot crawl prior to entering the experience * If playing all three missions at 5 Wits, give yourself 2.5 - 3 hours of time.
Did You Escape: Yes
