Game Played On: Sunday, 10th June 2018
Recommended Team Size: 3-5 Players
Kid Friendly: Yes
Game Duration: 60 Min.
Booking Method: Online| Phone
Start Time: On Time
Who is this for: Families, Enthusiasts, Beginners, Thrill Seekers
Live Actor: No
Public Transportation: Excellent
The venue was very easy to get to from public transportation
Parking: Street parking – some
The room could easily fit 6 players, with many things to do for each player. The optimal team size would be 4 players, any less and one part of the room will not have the same wow factor.
Venue / Lobby Info:
The venue was very clean and interesting, with water, public restrooms, and air conditioning. Details were put into designing the entryway and various 'pre-game' areas throughout the facility. Galactic Pioneers specifically had a very interesting lobby area that players were briefed in.
Public Restrooms: Yes
Game Introduction: The game introduction was done in an entry room built like a space station. Much detail work was put in this room which players only spent a few minutes in. The players are instructed to wear their space gear (chest protector) and get ready for the adventure. The video that played was great, and really got all players excited to play the room!
Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story
Theme: Future / Technological
Main room first glance: Wow!
The main room was beautifully designed to make players feel like they were on a spaceship trying to colonize a new planet. There was a fun sense of urgency instilled throughout the game, and the set, sound, and lighting effects were brilliantly designed. This had to have been one of our favorite space games visually, as the space was beautiful.
Flow: Excellent flow - flawless and coherent
The puzzles went very well into one another, and gave good feedback. The progression made sense to our team, and we continuously knew what to do next.
Puzzles: Well thought of. Intriguing
The puzzles were perfectly on theme and well integrated in the set. These were tons of fun, inventive, and puzzles we had not seen before. Certain puzzles were harder than others, which gives more experienced puzzlers a challenge, while allowing for new players to enjoy the game and feel accomplished doing some of the easier puzzles. The split in different types of puzzles was also well designed, with some more math/logic puzzles and other hands on combination puzzling.
Set, puzzles, interactions, immersion, ending, lights, sound effects.
One puzzle at the very end was trickier than it needed to be with it's controller. Definitely not a big weakness, but slightly frustrating.
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Quality: Excellent (They have advanced the game, built-in escalation, no answer-disclosing)
Closure & Debrief: Excellent (Catharsis)
Galactic Pioneers is an amazing space themed game-- one of the best in the world. Our team had a blast playing through the game and could not recommend it more. Definitely bring 4 players if possible!
Did You Escape: Yes
