This game is suitable for duets or trios, perhaps a small family of inexperienced players. Children over 10 should feel comfortable in the space - the game is spooky/dark but not scary.
Venue / Lobby Info:
Before entering the building, enjoy the colorful lights around the top of the 2nd floor! It almost looks like a castle in the sky at night. Walking into the lobby, there is an elevator with clear signage directing you to the second floor. Upon the elevator doors opening, you will quickly see where you need to walk to - a receptionist desk and ample seating await you. Several video games line the wall of the waiting area. Upstairs, there is a miniature golf course and tiki bar!
Public Restrooms: Yes
Notes for People with Disabilities:
As per Shipwrecked's website, the facility is in ADA compliance. The Haunted game, in particular, even offers a chair for those who may need a rest during the 25 minute experience.
Game Introduction: A widow has died, and we're off to investigate!
Operator Intro: Interesting
Theme: Investigation, Crime, Mystery,_crime, mystery
Narrative: Gather Intelligence or Espionage
Main room first glance: Nice & Neat!
The outside of the escape room is decorated like an old house, something you would see at Disney's 'Haunted Mansion' ride perhaps? Upon entry to the first room, we find ourselves in a candle lit room. The mood is immediately set, and the game begins.
Flow: Very Good and coherent flow
Linear in nature, it is impossible to progress within the game until all current tasks are completed.
Puzzles: Some of them were great (matched promised level)
Puzzles varied in difficulty from very easy to easy difficulty. A standard 'Escape Room rule' is broken.
English language not necessary to play - immersive set design - beginner friendly
Underutilized story line - very close quarters for games larger than 3 players - thin walls allowed us to hear other adventurers during game play
Hints & Clues, Debrief
Quality: Good (things made sense)
Closure & Debrief: Very Good
Shipwrecked brings an introductory escape room game with an introductory price tag to Brooklyn. With their unique use of space (all game entrances are visible from the waiting area) and their 'full line of entertainment' approach, they are a welcome addition to the area. Haunted is a great first Escape Room choice! Enthusiasts - budget your time accordingly. This 25 minute adventure took us ~15 minutes.
Did You Escape: Yes
