Overview Notes:

I would recommend playing other Escape Rooms prior to attempting Prey. This is a very puzzle heavy experience! While technically 'horror' themed, it is suitable for families and is a well lit game.

The Venue

Escape Room Madness now has rooms on two floors with two separate lobbies. Please double check your booking receipt to confirm the floor. Both lobbies are simply set up and cozy, with several chairs to await your team mates.

Please request a chair to sit down if you need to rest during this game. There are no physical elements in the room, and the building is accessible via elevator. Call ahead with any concerns.

The Game

Game Introduction: A family with a dark and hidden past holds the key to the town mystery - A creature that comes out at night and terrorizes the neighborhood. Time to investigate!

Operator Intro: Exciting - takes you into the story

Theme: Horror

Narrative: Gather Intelligence or Espionage

Main room first glance: Looks Good

Our adventure begins in the spartan office/library - it's time to explore! **Side note / Spoilers** This space is the old 59:59 game room, but with a different storyline and puzzles.

Flow: Excellent flow - flawless and coherent

There are two distinct paths to follow within the game space, creating enough puzzles and 'meat' for 4-5 players to stay engaged throughout the game. As long as puzzles are solved roughly at the same time, the flow is flawless in this game.

Puzzles: Well thought of. Intriguing

Escape Room Madness has some of the best puzzles in the area - Prey is no exception. Some puzzles hit the theme 'right on', while others may take some additional thought to make the connection. The puzzles range from moderate to very difficult within this game. If your team roster includes a Cipher Expert - bring them!!!

Game Strengths:

Thoughtful, intricate puzzles - Puzzles stay on theme - Quirky introduction - difficult puzzles without feeling frustrating/overcomplicated

Game Weaknesses:

The scenery and set design feels lacking in comparison to the time spent to design the puzzles and game flow.

Hints & Clues, Debrief

Method: TV-Monitor

Quality: Good (things made sense)

Closure & Debrief: Excellent (Catharsis)

Final Thoughts:

Prey is the newest addition the Escape Room Madness family, creating a difficult yet approachable experience for the more advanced players in NYC. Veterans will appreciate the use of space as they reminisce of past games within the space.

Did You Escape: Yes
