The Venue

Venue / Lobby Info:

Shipwrecked is located inside of a resort town styled to look like New Orleans. It was pretty neat to see - there's an entire mini city right through the front doors of the lobby! We had a live band playing in the 'square' - the music does permeate the escape room.

The Game

Game Introduction: This was a typical pirate themed escape room - find the treasure!

Operator Intro: OK

Theme: Adventure

Narrative: Carry out a Heist

Main room first glance: Looks Good

We find ourselves on the top deck of a pirate ship, complete with a cannon! With the band playing 90s alternative music mere feet from the Escape Room, some immersion level was lost. This wasn't the Escape Room's fault.

Flow: Not that good. A bit confusing

Search and you shall find! The flow of this room is dictated by your team's searching skills rather than puzzles or story line driven. There were a lot of 'now what?' moments during the room.

Puzzles: Good puzzles

The puzzles in this room led to conclusions and actions that were both pleasing and unexpected. Mixing high and low tech, they ranged in difficulty from easy to moderate. Most puzzles were kid-friendly.

Game Strengths:

beautiful puzzle executions + conclusions - family friendly

Game Weaknesses:

Loud music from outside the game was distracting - no overarching story line - choppy game flow

Hints & Clues, Debrief

Method: TV-Monitor

Quality: Good (things made sense)

Closure & Debrief: Very Good

Final Thoughts:

Shipwrecked is a search heavy, beginner friendly Escape Room experience. With a neat set and some unexpected puzzle conclusions, I would recommend checking it out if you're within the area as a first or second room. For more experienced players, the choppiness of the game flow may feel frustrating, and I would recommend trying a different room at IPanic.
