GuReview - The Cellar

Ease Of Booking :
Super accommodating to playing 4 games back to back! Easy to book.
Lobby : The lobby was the most beautiful lobby we have ever spent time in. Sofas and seating galore, it was a very inviting place to be. There were games to keep us entertained if we wanted to play (it kept the men of our group thoroughly engaged).
Hospitality : There are lockers to place personal belongings upon arrival. The host was personable, pleasant, and engaging. He made our time spent at Lock & Clue pleasant in between games, and kept the groups running through on time. He multi tasked like a pro!
Time Keeping : This was our final game of the day (played all 4 same day) and it began on time.
Briefing Details : Saul split our team of 3 into two different cells immediately. It was a bit scary (the room is designed to perfectly resemble a dungeon/cellar/prison) and the game began.
Operator Intro : Exciting - takes you into the story
Our game master Justin was AMAZING. He stayed in character and yet remained professional during the entire experience. I would look forward to playing another game with him.
The Game :
Great concept, well done set. I Just wish that the clue policy was amended.
The Venue :
This is a very solid venue for the area, and is very approachable to new players. I would recommend checking out this venue to anyone in the area, especially those looking for a 'different spin' on common room themes.
Main Room - First Glance :
The prison cells we were in were beautifully designed - they were scary without being claustrophobic.
Very Good and coherent flow
This game has the best flow out of the four games at this venue. It is very, very clear what to do each step of the way. This game had the same issue the other games in this venue have - it is very linear in nature, so there is only enough going on to keep 2 people busy most of the time.
One puzzle malfunctioned, costing us about 6 minutes. Most of the puzzles stay on theme which was a pleasant surprise. Side note: Do not wear nice clothes or white clothes when playing this game. There is a water element.
Hints & Clues : Saul came in every 15-20 minutes to assist us as needed. There is no way to ask for help until he comes into the space.
Policy: Strict Policy
Hints & Clues Quality: While this may work for newbies to escape rooms, this policy became frustrating when a puzzle malfunctioned and it took several minutes for Saul to come in and get us back on track.
Quality: Good (things made sense)
Closure & Debrief :
Our trio got stuck on the last puzzle of the game for quite some time due to a red herring. Even with the puzzle malfunctioning, this room was my favorite of the four games at this venue.
Venue Description: The venue is on the 2nd floor of an office building filled with artisan vendors and various companies. A bit difficult to find. Make sure to read the instructions when you book for the directions. Took us about 10 minutes to find the correct entrance.
Public Transportation : Some
There is a bus outside the venue. Not familiar with the area.
Parking : Street parking – some
Parked one block from the venue on a side street.
