This Escape Room is geared towards children who may not be able to 'escape' a traditional room. While having several escape room elements and puzzles within, I can imagine booking this room for a group of 6-9 year olds while their older siblings participate in another room.
Venue / Lobby Info:
Single story, brown brick building on Broadway. On a Saturday, the street was relatively quiet and parking was easy to find. Upon entry into the building, Just Escape appears to be the only occupant. We walked directly into the lobby, and were provided an IPAD for us to sign the waiver on, and told us our game would begin shortly. The lobby was clean, with a few couches to wait on. I LOVED how they hung the typical 'take a picture with our finishing signs' on the wall as part of the decor, it was original and gave us a quick laugh. There were about 10 people in the lobby on our arrival and it was packed. I do not recommend arriving too early to this venue, as there is limited space to wait.
Public Restrooms: Yes
Notes for People with Disabilities:
Call ahead prior to booking. Some rooms are ADA compliant.
Game Introduction: While we were waiting in the lobby, our GM told us that they were just finishing the popcorn... I thought that this was a cute joke. Upon entry to the room, we come to realize that there is ACTUAL popcorn in the room.. for us to eat!
Operator Intro: Interesting
Theme: Modern Era (2000+)
Narrative: Abstract - No Overarching Narrative
Main room first glance: Wow!
We begin this adventure in a pseudo carnival, complete with various carnival games. A beautiful mural is painted on one side of the room, catching our attention immediately. It's well lit and an immediate fun vibe. This is a single room experience.
Flow: Not that good. A bit confusing
We had to ask for several clues within this game to see what to do next.. This room is listed as being one of their easiest rooms, but it is harder to follow the flow in this room than others at Just Escape. Several of the games can be self-reset within the room, so multiple children/participants can take their own shot at it!
Puzzles: Some of them were great (matched promised level)
Mostly low tech in nature. Several of the puzzles stayed on theme, which was a lot of fun to see! I enjoyed the physical components/tasks within the room, and appreciated that they were child friendly.
Popcorn!! - Beautiful mural - Puzzles stayed on theme and were child friendly
This is a very promising room, that is missing a story line or prompts to suggest what to do next. The lack of flow in this room is frustrating, and I hope that this is remedied in the future.
