Overview Notes:

Exodus is a perfect 'first date' or introduction to Escape Rooms. I would recommend no more than 3-4 players due to the linear nature of the room.

The Game

Game Introduction: We have an hour to explore the mystery that unfolded at the Exodus exhibit in the NY History Museum!

Operator Intro: Interesting

Theme: Investigation, Crime, Mystery,_crime, mystery

Narrative: Investigate a Crime or Mystery

Main room first glance: Looks Good

We find ourselves within the midst of the Egyptian exhibit of a museum. Display cases line with walls, and there are a ton of artifacts to explore!

Flow: Very Good and coherent flow

The flow of the room is controlled via locking off certain portions of the game until you are ready for that area. It is done subtly and with intent, leaving a beautiful game to uncover.

Puzzles: Good puzzles

Some of the puzzles within this experience are more intuitive than others, but there are no large logic leaps to make. Puzzle difficulty ranges from very easy to moderate, giving experienced players the ability to overthink several components. There is one very satisfying puzzle for smaller children to enjoy. As this is an older game, expect a lot of locks.

Game Strengths:

Interesting story line - great introductory game to escape rooms +/- I enjoyed the NYC museum theme within NYC and found it relate-able

Game Weaknesses:

As a linear experience, it is disappointing to see this room allowing for ten players within a public booking scenario. Game feels outdated, needs some further updating to continue to compete in the NYC Escape Room market.

Hints & Clues, Debrief

Method: TV-Monitor

Quality: Good (things made sense)

Closure & Debrief: Very Good

Final Thoughts:

Exodus is a leftover game from when Exodus Escape Room existed within the building. Escape Room Madness has made some improvements to the game, but not enough to make it replayable. I look forward to future improvements to the game in the coming months. If you are looking for an introductory Escape Room game near Times Square, Exodus is a solid offering, especially if you have children with you.
